2011 Challenge

The Bright Ideas Challenge is about providing people with the connections and support they need to take their idea to the next level.
 
The Challenge is brought to you by Grow Wellington in collaboration with the Wellington innovation and investment community.
 
We are interested in all stages of ideas, including:
  • dynamic initial ideas
  • ideas at research and development
  • prototype
  • pilot stage
  • revenue generating stage

What are we are looking for?:

  • originality
  • commercial potential
  • the ability to develop and support your idea in the Wellington region.
 
Feedback will be provided to every concept or idea submitted, taking into account your target market and how you plan to reach it, your competition, your plan to make money from it, and how you are going to achieve success.

Bright Ideas 2011 opened for entries on 19th of April and the closing date is 26th of June 2011.
 
 

STAGE ONE
The first stage will be to enter your 100 word entry on this website. During the first stage we will be running a seminar series to help you to develop your idea and understand the criteria.

The ideas will be assessed by a panel of experts and every idea will get feedback and support.

The ideas with the greatest potential will be invited to stage two and invitations will go out at the end of July.  There is no limit to the number of ideas that we can invite to stage two.
 

 
STAGE TWO
During stage two, there will be another seminar series to help you develop your five page business plan, including market validation and testing, understanding and developing your business model, cost structure, funding and revenue streams. You will also learn about product development, intellectual property, governance, structure and legal requirements. There will be connections to experts, mentors and support.
 
 
Stage two will close on 23rd of September. The business plans will be assessed by experts and then further support will be given. The business plans with the greatest commercial potential will receive further support including the opportunity to present to the Wellington innovation and investment community, help to get ideas investment ready, assistance from business leaders and experts,  consideration for inclusion into the Creative HQ incubation programme and a scholarships for our entrepreneur kick start programme, Activate.

We will celebrate the Bright Ideas Challenge with a gala event in November where we will announce the recipient of the $25,000 seed capital.
